He paid £3,500 for a website he couldn’t use.

Connor had the experience to build a serious independent physiotherapy practice. What he had online was a WordPress site nobody had shown him how to manage, with enquiries disappearing into an inbox he did not own.

Connor didn’t need another website. He needed the first one to stop getting in his way.

Connor Flynn was a Band 7 NHS physiotherapist with a growing reputation across combat sports, basketball and active rehabilitation. He wanted to turn that experience into an independent practice in Cheshire.

He had already taken the expensive step. After responding to a Facebook advert, he paid about £3,500 upfront, plus hosting, for a WordPress website. It went live, but the company behind it never gave him a usable handover. Forms sent enquiries to an unfamiliar mailbox. WordPress felt completely alien. The site existed, but it was not helping him run the business.

The frustrating part was that Connor’s expertise was real. His online presence simply made it harder to reach.

A professional website on paper. Dead weight in practice.

Nothing here needed a dramatic technical diagnosis. The daily problems were obvious.

Paid upfront

About £3,500 committed before Connor knew whether the site would work for him.

Enquiries misplaced

Contact forms fed a mailbox he did not understand or control.

No handover

No clear instructions for managing the site or changing the business information.

Wrong fit

The technology demanded more attention while giving the practice no clearer route to bookings.

The first useful decision wasn’t visual.

I knew Connor was trying to move from NHS work into private practice, and I could see the site was not paying him back. I originally offered to repair it. Once I saw the plugin stack, template and missing handover, rebuilding was cleaner and fairer.

Because he had already lost about £3,500, I did not ask him to take the same risk again. We started on a manageable monthly arrangement and concentrated on getting him something that worked.

“It cost like £3,500 plus the hosting fees. It just wasn’t good.”

Build around the way Connor actually works.

A physiotherapist cannot stop a session to answer every call. The website, inbox and booking system needed to carry the conversation until Connor was free to respond.

Email that felt familiar

One professional inbox. No mystery handoff.

Website enquiries were moved into a Google Workspace account on the Professional Sports Physio domain. Connor already understood those tools and still uses them today.

Healthcare booking

Zanda Health carried the sensitive parts.

Zanda Health, formerly Power Diary, already supports the consent, intake and appointment workflow a physiotherapy practice needs. The website guides people into it instead of trying to recreate it.

Communication without interruption

Email, text or voicemail instead of constant live calls.

That route suits a practitioner who may be treating a client or spending time with his family. People can act while their intent is high without expecting Connor to abandon the room he is in.

The website grew up with the practice.

We did not pretend the perfect system appeared in one attempt. The first job was getting Connor out of a bad situation. The next was learning what the business genuinely needed.

  1. A working replacement

The first usable version was delivered quickly so Connor had a professional place to send people and an enquiry route he could control.

  2. Systeme.io as a stopgap

We tested focused landing pages and email automation while the offer and customer journey were still taking shape.

  3. A proper Astro website

As search visibility and service depth became more important, the project moved to a fast custom site that could support real pages, focused landing routes and ongoing improvement.

  4. An operating asset

The work now continues through website updates, Google Business Profile management and carefully sourced physiotherapy content.

From renting treatment space to making room for someone else.

Connor now operates from his own home clinic in Cheshire. The practice has grown enough for a part-time physiotherapist to work from the same space, giving the business more capacity without demanding that Connor personally handles every appointment.

#1

In the Google map pack and organic results for “sports physio Chester”, and top three for “sports physio in Cheshire”. Checked September 2026.

2 physios

Connor and a part-time practitioner can now serve clients from the home clinic.

Ongoing

The next search campaign is designed to create more work for the team instead of simply creating more calls for Connor.

The next stage is not growth for its own sake. It is helping the clinic stay visible, filling more of the second practitioner’s capacity and giving Connor more control over the time he spends with his family.

In Connor’s words

Hear it from Connor.

A short cut from a longer conversation we recorded in October 2026. I’ve edited it for length. The words are his.

My name is Connor Flynn, I’m a physiotherapist. I work with elite athletes. I’m the head of medical at Cheshire Phoenix basketball club, which is Super League basketball.

So I just want regular updates on what you do, and then to be able to feed back into the process, and you’re absolutely fine with that, which was super refreshing and, I guess, comforting, so that, you know, I can be part of the process as it’s going on. I know that things are happening.

So you started by just making sure the booking system worked, and you did that in like a day, maybe a day and a half. Yeah. Yeah. It’s good. That was proper stressing me out. So, yeah: “fix this first, and then change the website.” And you were like, “yep, job done, easy.”

I don’t think any of that could have happened without the business that’s come from the website, ’cause it was a noticeable 2–3x business within three months. It was really quick.

It was the exact money that you quoted, it was the time frame you quoted, and it was “you will be happy with this at the end” as an assurance, and I was.

Ricardo: I guess honestly, the only next question is, would you recommend me to any other physio or clinic, or any other business in general?

Yeah. One hundred percent. Love that. Made my life easier. And, yeah, gathering in more clients and the type of clients that I’m after. Less workload, more money, more time. Can’t complain. Best investment ever.
